AJP Servies unvented hot water qualified30 September 2008 Tony Petheram of AJP Services Ltd has recently passed the required exams and assessments to enable him to fit and service domestic unvented (mains pressure) hot water systems. "These systems provide many advantages over the normal vented hot water systems found in most houses" says Tony, " but the biggest advantage most people notice is the fantastic hot water pressure and flow rates available anywhere in the house without a pump; a real boon for those who like their showers! " Unvented systems are being widely fitted in modern houses, but they can be retro fitted in most older properties as well. However, unented hot water systems are complex in design, and for safety reasons should only be fitted and maintained by suitably qualified persons. AJP services can now provide this service to homeowners.
AJP Services Ltd 17th edition qualified18 April 2008 Tony Petheram, of AJP Services Ltd, is from today qualified to design, construct, test and inspect electrical wiring installations to the 17th edition of the IEE wiring regulations (BS7671). The 17th edition regulations come into force on 1 June 08, and from that date all electrical jobs must be done to them. "The 17th edition has introduced a number of changes" says Tony "mostly designed to improve safety for the customer, both domestic and commercial." Tony Continues "these changes are good for the consumer, but customers should ensure that any person doing any electrical work for them is able to certify the work, or the safety benefits may well be lost. This means that on completion of any electrical work, even the smallest jobs, the customer should receive a certificate proving the work has been done to the proper, and safe, standards. A lack of the relevant certificate could easily mean poor or unsafe standards."
IEE 17th edition Wiring Regulations issued01 February 2008 The IEE has released the final version of the new 17th edition wiring regulations. These replace the 16th edition, which were last updated in 2001, and form the basis by which all electrical installations should be designed, constructed, tested and routinely inspected. The regulations come into force on 1 June 08 and have enhanced the protection installed in households as well as defining more special locations of higher electrical risk. Although the regulations are not statutory law, they should be followed by all electricians to comply with the statutory laws that cover electrics. The best way to ensure that any electrical work done for you is in accordance with these regulations is to use an elecrician who is a member of a self certifying organisation (which means they are trusted to certify that their own work is up to standard). AJP services, as members of NAPIT, are of course self certifying.
